what is the best way to lighten your skin?

i cant really find a clear answer for this.
i got wayy too tan to the point where it looks really odd w/ my phenotype. how do i remove some of the melanin? will skincell turnover with a retinoid help with this? or will it produce the same amount of melanin?

i also have pretty high inhib so im not willing to use those creams that may cause cancer or some shit.
anyone pls lmk.

Hydroquinone cream is an effective tan-reducing cream (prescribed by a doctor, same as tret). It reduces melanin production in the applied area.

Also use a good fcking sunscreen to avoid tan

i have tret 0.025%, would that work? or am i misunderstanding your sentence
