The only animals I think that can stand their own against them are Elephants and Rhinos

Weight matters the most when it comes to fights amongst each other.

A human would have higher chance of killing a bear than a tiger though, in hand combat (no weapons)
With a spear, he could kill tigers more easily

There used to be a guy who was an explorer a 100 years ago. He was nicknamed the Jaguar Hunter

He killed over 30 with a spear and 14 with a bow.
Was taught by an Aboriginal man on how to do it.
And jaguars are deadly animals. They have the highest PSI bite force amongst all the large cats, sitting at around 1500PSI iirc.

Unlike other cats, that would target your neck and choke you out/kill you, a jaguar would simply crush your skull.
A tiger is very similar to the jaguar, but even larger and heavier. It will pounce on you and kill you within seconds.

A bear being an omnivore would not kill you before eating you. Which is worse IMO, but you have a higher chance of fighting back/ living… but not a chance against a Polar bear

So, for us, it goes:
Polar bear >> Siberian Tiger > Other tigers > Other Lions > Other Jaguars > Brown Bear > Black Bear >> Cougars/Mountain Lions (people have killed these with a rock before & some villagers in India and Africa are recorded having strangled them)

In terms of amongst them:
Polar Bear >> Other Bears > Other Tigers > Other Lions > Other Jaguars >> Cougars/Mountain Lions


50% of the time if you cross a brown/black bear, they won’t even try to kill you. A tiger will always kill you

You can see Hippos and Elephants from far away, so good chance at dodging.

Crocs are harder to spot, and you are done if they surprise you, but they can be avoided/outsmarted for the most part.

A brown bear is dangerous, especially with cubs around, but you can play dead and hopefully survive, or try running away hoping the bear prioritizes staying close to her cubs.

But I think a tiger stalking you from the thick jungle vegetation is game over. Even if you see him first - he will see you, and he can chase you easily. Unless you have weapons you are basically dead.

That is true for most big cats like Lions, Leopards etc but tigers are an exception to this rule. They are known to hunt humans. Villagers in India wear these masks behind their heads to avoid getting stalked by tigers

Death from an omnivore is worse, because the bear is tearing the person limb from limb, chewing away whilst the person is alive

I think tigers have the most proven track record of animals not to be messed with. There have been cases of tigers hunting down asian elephants and rhinos that are like multiple times their size. There's a reason why jungle safaris outside of national parks is not a thing in India @TheLightOfMyLife
