Just started thinking about this. My grandma got married at 17 to a 27 year old man. They lived in a small town. They’ve met and spent the rest of their lives together.

People normally didn’t look for partners outside their town, they just married someone who lived very close and was the opposite gender. Sometimes even their neighbour. They had no other options and it felt normal.

I also watched some movies from this era and women seemed to have much more respect for men, let’s say in the 50s and 60s than women do today. They also acted much more mature and weren’t so degenerate.

What ruined this? Is it the invention of the internet to be blamed for this?

Liberals giving “equal rights” to women, and this way “women gained more respect from men” as some article has stated?

It is that’s why I said the internet

Roschach's Journal: October 12th, 1985

Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No."

Everything has already been said by other people itt, but I feel like women entering the workforce is often overlooked and definitely a major contributor.

Back when men made up the vast bulk of the workforce, they offered something unique to the women out there: an income to provide a household and a family.

Relationships were basically a transaction, at the time: A man would provide for a woman, by having an income, and in exchange, a woman would give a man a family/establish a household.

Having a solid job/income was usually the bare minimum you needed, in order to settle down and start a family, at the time. But nowadays, women have the same options as men do in the workforce so simply having a job isn't gonna cut it anymore.

Lack of traditional rules and nihilism and total abandonment of believing in God

I am not trying to sound like a religious boomer, not even trying to advocate that God is real, but rather, that religion and its rules, always provided the best rules for a stable society objectively, including marriage (in a form of arranged marriage, which was backed by social shame and perhaps total boycott if divorce happened) and hyper-gamy (no need to explain how religion oppress the dirty nature of women, and even men), even if it might be based on things which are not real

I don't think it's worse. It's just different. You needed money to have a wife in the old days, and spouses still often cheated on each other. It was not a good time imo.

Most Normies today do fine, and the bad things that exist today always existed in other forms.

So there’s where I was wrong? It was conservative men, not liberals?

I always thought left-wing politics supported social equality more

Very good and detailed answer, my grandma also didn’t have a job, so it makes sense
