What made men stop wearing suits and ties?

Look at any photo of the public before 1965, literally everybody (both men and women) were dressed like professional businesspeople

Suits, hats, ties, leather shoes, belts, pocket watch etc

I’m not necessarily advocating for everyone to return to wearing suits in public, but I find it fascinating how quickly the standard style for men changed within the span of about 5 years

Culture. Back then men wore suits, women wore skirts, because of culture. It was expected to follow the culture

Those were the only clothes that were generally available and mass-sold at the time. It's not like down the street corner they had a store with North Face jackets, but they just decided not to buy/wear them, so we now debate why they chose that..

That stuff is too difficult to wear and uncomfy to go around with. It's dumb spending 30 minutes of your life everyday wearing to go out and buy bread when there are so many other options.
