What influenced your beliefs about religion the most?


Were you raised religious, did you convert later, or did you stop believing? Was it because of personal experiences, philosophical arguments, science, religious texts, family, culture, or something else?

I’m interested in hearing honest answers from both believers and non-believers. Please explain what shaped your view instead of just insulting the other side.

was questioning my religion for years then stopped questioning and maximized my faith a few months ago i won't say which religion to not be hated on but yeah

also the religion of paganists and athenian greeks literally built the modern world, its debatable for christianity but christianity was only based in teh crusades

I get your point, but atheism is not necessarily “believing in nothing” it usually means not being convinced that any god exists. Ancient Greece deeply influenced the modern world, but mainly through philosophy, politics, science, art, and institutions ot pagan religion alone. Christianity also existed for centuries before the Crusades, so saying it was based on them is historically inaccurate.

ik what ur point is on the ancient greeks but the polytheistic religion they had influenced them to persue those questions and answers

I get what you mean but Christianity was already a major religion for centuries before the Crusades. The Crusades were one historical period not the foundation of Christianity.
And with the ancient Greeks their religion may have influenced some of their questions, but Greek philosophy also often challenged traditional myths and religious explanations. Their achievements came from philosophy, debate, observation, mathematics, and politics not polytheism alone.

I just could not ever believe in a loving god would make me ugly, 5’11, and half black. So my concern is not whether or not god exists, but if she exists, she has always hated me, so why even bother?
