Can you list the ratios you have currently?

- facial fifths / facial thirds
- bottom of the nose to bottom of the lips : lower third
- mouth vertical alignment : lower third
- height of lower lip + chin : mouth width
- mouth width : nose width
- lower lip height : upper lip height
- chin height : philtrum height
- interpupillary distance : midface height
- interpupillary distance : bizygomatic width
- facial width to height ratio
- bizygomatic width : bigonial width
+ canthal tilt

The values aren't based on the image in the background, I'm just using it to sketch on it. I'm looking for as many ratios as possible as I'm learning to draw faces

You can add eme angle, and ene (eye nose eye). If you don’t already know about this, it’s a measure of how compact midface is as an alternative to ipd to facial height ratio. Also you can add nostril to nose base inclination angle from front view

I'd add the slant of medial canthus
eyebrow slant and distance between eye and eyebrow compared to pfh
slant of the mouth corners
ratio of iris to sclera
iris to face height and width
pfl/pfh
ipd/mouth width
mouth width/bigonial
bizygomatic/bigonial to temple width
chin width to mouth/ipd/alar base
chin width to bigonial
ES
pfl/icd
eye nose angle (ipd to nose width)
nose bridge width to icd
nose width to length
nose length to lower third
nose base to nose bridge
nose base to icd
nose length to ramus
ramus to chin length
nostril show protrusion and angle of the tip (not sure how to measure)
the OGEE curve
height of the zygion compared to eyes
ear length to face length
ear projection to bizygomatic
Nasion height
height of cupids bow to mid upper lip
frontal gonial angle
height of gonion to lips
iris-gonial length compared to hollow cheek length
glabella to nose bridge angle

some of the ones i've seen posts here abt mostly redundant for properly formed faces but subhumanity has many shapes and forms

I think facial fifth is a meme cuz its offset by shit ears tbh, should be an ear ratio as well and one based on bizygomatic

There are no ratios for the eyebrows. Unfortunately I don't know of any eyebrow ratios. Mabye eye brow ratios are irrelevant.

1654122358643

However I don't know if PFL, canthal tilt and FHWR cover eyebrows. I feel if these ratios are good its difficult to have poorly shaped eyebrows (assuming you haven't plucked them poorly).

Apart from this your facial ratio's look complete.

I plan to add nose inclination to the side profile sketch
bizygomatic/bigonial to temple width
How should the temple width measure up compared to the width of zygos?

nose length to lower third
I just added nose length to midface (2:3)

Thanks for the many ideas! :Comfy:

Eyebrows should have a flattened curve shape (straight line is also fine), negative tilt and be vertically close to the eyes.

They should extend outwards of the eye’s lateral canthus but I’m wondering by how much?

Based of your drawing I would say about 25% to 33% longer then your PFL. I feel that if your ES ratio is good your eyebrows will probably be long enough. The main failios I see for eyebrows are when they are too thin or have been styled poorly. I see alot of women with shit eyebrows but men usually have better eyebrows.

I feel if your other eye related ratios and bigomatic width are good your eyebrows should be a good shape.Eyebrow colour and density is more important for aesthetics. You said you are going to learn how to draw faces. Maybe this will offer some insight into eyebrow ratios.

Yes I think when it comes to eyebrows, it’s easier to pinpoint bad ones than to accurately define the ideal. Together with eyes, I attribute this to the role they play in expressing emotions. Different eyebrows and eyes can show a range of expressions

These eyebrows widely differ but none of them are bad

Similarly how “hunter eyes” are the ideal from an aesthetic viewpoint yet pretty eyes are good too but they ignite different feelings in the viewer

@Xangsane gave me the idea that I should draw my ideal girl’s face but I must deepen my knowledge of anatomy and aesthetics a bit before I do that

There is the eyebrow width (distance between the outer ends of both eyebrows) to outer canthal distance which should be above 1 ideally.
