Point aside, the proportion of people at those events may be 10% but those people at the events are the top 1% already. Selection bias. Idk, I’m just saying at least the academic world is so competitive. Like I thought I was the shit before I went to the school I go to. Compared to some people there I am fucking nothing in every metric of human life. Even though I’m better than like 90% of all other people. It is quite literally an exponential scale, the average person genuinely doesn’t understand. There’s people in this world at my age who completely obliterate me on every aspect of life. Even though I obliterate nearly everyone else. It’s a brutal world, and the average person doesn’t realise the extent to which this is true.

Agreed, especially with all the asians. I'm white so I'm hoping I get an easier time for college applications. since not many people of my ethnicity follow the same path I do (basketball + stem combo).

Also, I feel like the academic world has gotten so competitive the returns don't even seem worth it anymore. Other than quant and maybe some other specialized sectors, there aren't really any high paying jobs. You'll be slaving away with no chance of escape. That's just how the system operates. That's why if I continue my pursuit of academic endeavors I'll likely pivot to startups since at least you can work for yourself.

Furthermore, I recommend you check out alternative income sources. So many people are caught up in academics that they don't realize there's an entire niche online where you can still make money. Although this space is still competitive a large majority of your competition are retards and many sectors are still untapped. For example, i do trading. although i don't believe trading is sustainable it's added a huge chunk to my net worth in a few months. I'm aiming to do anything to set myself ahead of the competition.
