i try to do it on my back but it isn't always comfortable. also no pillow

Mouthtape or keep your mouth closed then it's not that hard.
 
Can't sleep on my back unless I wanna die, got an AHI of 100.
 
Back is worst position for modern people. If you can't keep your ribcage down whilst back sleeping you will cause lots of muscular imbalances in the neck, shoulders, chest, diaphragm, pelvis, etc. Ideal is left or prone with pillow under stomach.
