Whats the deal with Indian parents and their obsession with spelling bees

When i was in elementary and middle school i was super good at spelling, and i consistently went to regional and state spelling bees. The one thing me and my grandpa noticed the most is that often in a room with say, 100 spellers, 95 of them would be Indian. And these Indian kids were really good too, but i'm still trying to figure out why Indian parents pushed their kids to do spelling bees so much
