What's the point of getting a degree in a hard science?

sure it'll be a good stamp on the resume to show how 'smart' you are but there are several other, far more practical degrees, that do the exact same thing while also setting you up for a job in a high paying industry (engineering, medicine, law, finance etc)

You don’t need any particular degree for most industries nowadays. Maths and physics, especially from a good uni will help you if you want to do banking, actuarial sciences, HFT ect.

Chemistry to make drugs and sell supplements to blackpillers and old people, you can also work in a factory, a laboratory or be a perfume designer. Don't end like Walter White teaching chemistry in school or selling products at the pharmacy.

a math/physics degree from a t5 uni looks great, but seems inconvenient (given the alternatives ie far easier and less quantitative degrees) if the goal is employment and not postgrad/academia

The only people who should be going for science fields are only those people who genuinely have a passion for humanity's technological, medical, and overall scientific advancement.

If you are trying to become a doctorate in a high class status sounding scientific, medical, or technological field, because you think that it will increase your respect, people will love you, and women will want to be with you...

all I have to say is that there are literally videos on tiktok about women picking up literal homeless men off the street who don't have any education/degrees and not a single cent to their name. And completely turning their life around, fixing them up, sending them to school and paying their tuition and getting married to them..... ALL BECAUSE......

That's the reason why most of the people who choose hard sciences tend to be very high IQ. They know they won't have any kind of financial problems since they can easily get a teaching position at a top university.

They’re mostly transitional degrees these days. They used to mean a lot more on their own standing 15-20 years ago but those days are long gone.

In the case of medicine, hard science degrees help quite a bit for graduate school material and entrance exams. Also, it has changed in recent years but medicine grad schools had pre-requisite courses that needed to be taken before applying and it only made sense to go all the way with a natural sciences degree because all the pre-reqs were in alignment.

Someone can have all the passion they want for physics or pure mathematics, but if they don't have the IQ for that sort of thing, it will be a poor career choice. But if they have an above-average but not high IQ, they'd be better off opting for engineering or a similar career.

Bachelors in chemistry is nowhere near enough training to “make drugs”. Selling supplements is a business venture and has no relation to having a background in chemistry, unless you intend on formulating novel products. Those types of people end up having PhDs in biochem.

Selling products at the pharmacy = pharmacy technician. Or pharmacist if you’re the one verifying physician orders for the meds.

Knowledge,Genius level talent in a particular field. If you are innovative, potential commercial applications. But 90% of people doing these degrees(minus physics/maths) go straight to med school anyway.
