Getting tricked by their own brain. In nature, a disabled animal is a dead animal. The same should be done with humans, especially when the choice can be made early.
I could even go as far as to compare a hurt animal to an amputee. A hurt animal is only good for death, nowadays humans can remain alive with limbs missing but become useless. We're just tricked by our own empathy towards those who are disabled when they actually should just be rejected from society since they would serve no purpose in a group.
