It creates biases and it's useless past the bonding aspect. I would like to state it's bad for honesty and nothing else. It's within human nature like you said and beneficial for things like the need to fit in.

I can play devils advocate with arguments like voting and such related fields. The issue with those is not attacking my main point of "honesty."
