Thanks, man. I never took a formal I.Q. test, so I'm not sure how smart I actually am. But I guess I'm smarter than average. This has actually been a curse for me, especially with foids, as most of them (the attractive ones, at least) have very middling to low intelligence.

There are many interpretations of the concept of eternal return.

It is important to understand that Nietzsche in this concept believes that history repeats itself in a spiral-like pattern. In other words, history repeats itself over time. His approach has several tangents. First, he questions Hegel's deterministic, fatalistic, and teleological conception of history. Basically, Hegel postulated the end of history, while Nietzsche postulated that history repeats itself. I believe this is not entirely accurate, but rather, there are certain nuances.

Max Weber uses this conception extensively in his theory of rationalization with the aforementioned meaning. "History does not repeat itself exactly, but certain elements can lead it to certain places. However, these events and elements are unpredictable and cannot be planned."

In fact, this concept is integral to his career as a philologist.

Why is this? Because of the concept of hermeneutics and the dialectical relationship between the hermeneutist/philologist and the text they study. In Nietzsche's case, the texts are mainly Greek. Schleiermacher uses the concept of the hermeneutic circle to explain that, in the study of texts, there is an infinite cycle of new interpretations that engage with the reader. This makes the same text appear different depending on the period of time and the reader's interpretation.

I believe that Nietzsche wanted to arrive at this last idea with his Eternal Return, a kind of hermeneutic theory of history, obviously with his precept of a circle or spiral. At least Innerarity would agree with me.
