Almost all EJMR posters are grad students with no pubs
- The snobby posts on this forum are getting out of hand. So many people post about how "crappy" certain journals are, how low-ranked certain departments are, and how "easy" it is to get tenure at "shitty" schools. But wtf do you losers know? Most of you are only in grad school... who knows if you'll even get placed in academia?
Trust me when I say this: those of you who are knocking journals that aren't "top 5" or "top field" pubs will probably NEVER publish in a top 5, and will have a lot of trouble publishing in a top field. Most of you will also never get placed at a place you would consider "decent," and you'll certainly end up getting tenure (if anywhere) at a place you might think is "below" you.
The profession is much harder than you think, and 99% of people move down the ranks their entire career. I'm an AP at a non-top 50 school right now, where most likely, I'll get denied tenure in a few years, and have to move on to a teaching college. I got my PhD at a top 15, and did my undergrad at an ivy. Most of my colleagues have the same pedigree, but that doesn't mean we move up in the profession the way you all think you will.
Moral of the story: knock journals and departments after you get a job and/or tenure. Until then, GTFO.
