When does purging usually start on tretinoin?

I've just applied tretinoin (0.05%) last night for the first time after a light amount of moisturizer ~10mins before. I didn't apply any moisturizer afterwards (maybe a dumb idea but I wanted to see how my skin would react, I'll be doing the sandwich method properly next time). I woke up with my skin being completely normal, my acne was the same, my skin wasn't dry at all or anything. I then took a morning shower and once my skin dried I applied some SPF30 sunscreen and some vaseline for a slight skin glowing effect.

So my question is simple, when will the purging and/or drying/flaking set in? Should it have been immediately or does it take a week or so to start.

(Yes, I started on 0.05%)

Any and all help and/or tips for using the topical medication would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit too nervous to post myself on here just yet so I won't be showing my acne but it is pretty mild, nothing crazy at all. Even my breakouts are pretty tame compared to some.

never was on tretinoin but i was on adapalene gel and i think its comparible with tretinoin in your strength, my skin was completely fucking dry after 2 days and not even moisturizing my skin wasnt enough.

It's different for everyone, I never experienced it personally but my brother started peeling 1-2 weeks in

side effects never happen overnight and its different to everyone

I've been on .1% for a few months now and haven't purged or flaked badly but it's different for everyone
