When I was a teenager wearing braces, my dentist told me to rip out 2 of my up teeth, how much can that affect the face?

Both of the premolars
THe damage are the classical syntomps of recession. The problem is not the extractions per see but that after the etractions they push everything back so there isnt an empty space there.

yeah, being the up teeth it change something? I imagine if it was the bottom ones the damage would be worse

recessed maxilla, suken cheekbones, flat cheekbones, hollow undereyes, worst undereye suppot, sclera show, crocked smile, nasiolabial fold, big nose, very proeminent chin, half moon look face, small palate, crocked nose, nose turning down when smilling and the list goes on

I know its brutal and sad, im a victim of orthodontics as well, althought i never had extractions. Purely braces from 15 to 19 recessed me severely (I already had straight teeth to being with and i had a big spurt at 15).

I'm wearing braces since 16, 18 now, do you think I'm fucked harder than I'd be without them?

What about at 18-19, would it do something ?

depends. 1. important is to make sure the braces are not tilting the teeth inwards, since that reduces soft tissue support and reduces tongue space 2. How much growth do you have left? I was a rare case because i grew a lot from 15 to 18 but most people dont grow as much 3. Will he extract or use elastics? THose retract by default (Maybe not the wisdom teeth) 4 and most important. Dont let them overextend the treatment, if the teeth are straight already there is no need to extra pressure to be applied there. All it will be doing is hurting the roots, hurting the gums and stopping growth.

@julianchicago Forgot the most important problem of braces: It makes you chew with less force. THats the biggest effect people see. You should force yourself to chew hard foods during development but its a paradox. Because it hurts to chew hard foods with braces on, so it will probably be damaging the roots by doing so.

Same as i said above. Extractions, elastics will damage it. TIlting teeth in will damage.
They are moving the teeth outwards ? Or so I’ve been told. No extractions and elastics.

fucking scam, wished my parents waited until I was 18 to take that decision. :feelsrope:

but even tilting the teeth outwards you need to be careful to not fuck your roots while doing so. Ask your dentist about it

its not their fault, its a system that teach us to believe that specialists want our good since we are very young.

No gum or root issues, get, luckily treatment is finishing. Ortho said he can give a wider smile by expanding the arch ? Is that okay to do ?

Yeah, I don't blame them, now is being stoic and either live with this or do some surgeries to fix... Does that explain why even why I suck my cheeks I can't see much bones and definition?

1. important is to make sure the braces are not tilting the teeth inwards
I have artificial black tier bimaxillary protrusion as a white (they tilted them outwards to make space), so thankfully they don't, but my outward tilt is too much

2. How much growth do you have left?
I grew much even in the last year, I had 4mm chin growth (measured in xrays taken 1 year apart)
I'm not sure how much I have left, but I steadily grew much in the last years. My orthodontists also told me it's a miracle I didn't get more downgrown regarding my starting point, and even reversed a little, and they don't know how, as most teens get more and more downgrown once the process kicks in.
3. Will he extract or use elastics
I used elastics for a few months 1 year ago, but stopped using them myself as I got concerned. The only teeth they want to extract are all 4 wisdom teeth, would that cause harm?

I'm already pretty long in treatment but my treeth were very crooked before. I even switched orthodontists from one that doesn't care about the individual patients that much, to a more aesthetics worried one.

then great, im happy it worker out for you. Depend with which method he will expand the arch. I would be careful there since its not as easy as simple braces.

I need to ask them or I might just leave it instead.

then good. If you search you will see many complaints about wisdom teeth extractions causing damage but we can hear people also saying that subliminals worker for them so its very hard to take online people opinions seriously. it deff should not make near as much damage as other teeth since you will not need to retract anything. Expansion may be a good way to keep them
