Do you squeeze the muscles and create tension or keep yourself relaxed and use the minimum energy to lift the weight?

I dont do the squezing mind muscle connection bs.
I try to add pounds to my lifts weekly/monthly and also i try to gain weight on the scale.

My back improved, but that is bcs i got a new weighted pull up PR.
My triceps are also bigger but because i am adding more weight to the weighted dips.
Etc
So when you lift heavy you try to keep your muscles as relaxed as possible, is it a waste of energy to squeeze the muscles and create tension?

WHen i am doing 12 reps with 315lbs at the bench it feels like a life or death scenario.
So i dont understand the question i just go heavy af and lift as much kgs as i can with good form and in a 3-12 rep range
Do you do some overcoming isometric exercises? They are underated af
