So my grandmother left the Rez because back then in Mississippi natives were frequently dysfunctional on the red with the same issues we have today but magnified ten times worse

The Choctaw in particular were seen as lower than blacks by whites and arguably hated even more

My grandmother moved north with her mulatto husband to Ohio where there was less discrimination and more job opportunities than dirt poor Mississippi with no running water or electricity
