It's synthesized from steroid precursor chemicals which then go through a multi step chemistry processes, which is then purified and formulated into an injection oil, gel, etc.

API (active pharma ingredient) > pharma company formulates and sterilizes it > distro to pharmacies/hospitals > prescribed to patients

Peptides are usually made differently. Peptide synthesis is made in biotech or chemical labs via automated peptide synthesis machines.

Testosterone came from the Germans in the 1930's it was chemically synthesized and they used a bull testicle to aid in their synth. This became Testosterone Propionate in 1937.

Peptides are chains of amino acids, they almost all come from China, and are mass produced like bags of chips. I've seen 20+ of these factories it's a very impressive operation.

Insulin is a peptide, HGH is a peptide. Oxytocin is a peptide too and is used in hospitals to reduce postpartum bleeding. Ziconotide is a pain-killing peptide, these have been used in the medical industry for over 2 decades.
