Option 1: The High-Status Hustler

You're a software engineer at a top product firm, quant trader, or PE associate serious money and prestige. LinkedIn shines: Software Engineer @ BigTech or Quant @ top HFT. Relatives, friends, and uncles even random people look at you as some inspiration who made it through grind and merit. You earn peoole's respect without even saying a word because you are a symbol of the victory for the middle class. But it's relentless. 50โ€“70 hour weeks, 3 a.m. on-calls, brutal reviews, constant upskilling. The respect is real but it is always tied to the job.

Option 2: The Legacy Overseer
BA degree, family owns hotels. You oversee one Marriott property. No boss, nice suite, delegate ops to GM, handle big calls when needed, rest of the time is yours. No salary but you get dividends , zero financial stress, total freedom. Society hits hard tho. Spoiled brat, lazy nepo kid. No one respects you. Side eyes at family events, whispers about privilege, no LinkedIn clout. Freedom feels great but constant judgment and legacy pressure stings. You have to continue running the hotel you don't have a choice.

option 2

option 1 is something youโ€™ll have to uphold for decades without break, itโ€™ll take a massive bite out of your health and youโ€™ll be basically tied to this job

option 2 is basically eternal freedom, who gives a fuck when your stress free and very wealthy, theyโ€™d say the same shit to anyone whoโ€™s doing better than them, difference is your living the best life possible

Applies to option 2 more than 1. The hustler can quit anytime but 2 can't sell his hotels or he is losing his source of income and his family legacy

option 1 quits and loses half the privelleges and respect he earned, he canโ€™t quit because this job is sm that his entire life revolves around

option 2 doesnโ€™t have a need to quit

Aimlessly doing nothing challenging or stimulating for 40-50 years sounds miserable ngl
but your thinking that this is something heโ€™ll do forever and heโ€™ll be stuck with it, he wonโ€™t expand or diversify or do sm else too, he has money time and the option to take on risks

Truly depends on SMV:

If I have Incel Tier SMV Iโ€™d rather go hard and be respected as a banker/SWE or high ranked corporate job

If Iโ€™m a slayer Iโ€™d rather spend my time impregnating as many women as possible to make my offspring prosper, so second option. Think about it: who cares about โ€œmuh free timeโ€ when you are incel? โ€œBrooo u can just travel go out and experience shittโ€ fucking normie cope

Respect is everything in South Asian families

Iโ€™d want my parents to be proud before dying and going to hell

I would pick option 1. But in reality itโ€™s option 2 where I can live life to the fullest.

Who cares about what people think of me if I'm rich as fuck already. Their thoughts won't put food on my table or replace all the time, hardwork, and sacrifices needed in the first option the fuck.
