Which type of people get into Jane Street

Lots of people get top tier grades and have solid experience, but they stand no chance to get into firms like Jane street and other quant trading firms. Are they just math/computing prodigies ? What qualities do you need to get into them ?

Not even those tbh, just prodigies. The smartest person I know, First class Maths grad from Oxford couldn’t get in to any quant firm.. it’s crazy.

not getting into any is kinda crazy, tho. An Oxford grad should be able to at least get a position at a smaller firm.

There is a well known "Harvard to Jane Street Pipeline"

Harvard is the only university with a class for OCaml, a programming language used heavily in Jane Street

I'd bet most people who work for Jane Street went to Harvard
