Everyone desires things they can't have. In the US a trip to Europe is seen as something special and exotic, for us europeans it is bland and boring.

A trip to the US on the other hand is a experience for us, we can "escape" the boredom of our daily life.

Thats why other cultures will always be more fascinating for us.
