first off “non chalant” is a retarded term i dont like but its easy to understand and most people have an idea of what that is. it gets a bad rep mainly because of women having partners who basically hate them.
non chalant - adjective - having an air of easy unconcern or indifference.
being “non chalant” is amazing for mental health when its not forced. when its good for mental health - youre not overthinking everything, you dont take small stuff personally, you dont depend on others validation, you stay steady in stressful situations, etc…..
being “non chalant” becomes bad when you bottle up emotions instead of dealing with them, you avoid problems instead of handling them, you act detached when something truly matters, you stop caring about goals, etc…..
the sweet spot is when you feel things but dont let them control you, you care but dont over obsess, you react but dont overreact.
real “non chalance” is close to “i care im just not shaken by everything” not “i dont care about anything”
you dont become “non chalant” by acting a certain way you become it by thinking and reacting differently.
you want to detatch from needing reactions from others, control your emotional spikes, shorten your responses and dont overtalk that gives that you are not calm and relaxed, be ok with not knowing/controlling, build a life that naturally makes you happy most people dont try this if you have hobbies that youre passionate about it becomes hard to be a clingy ass nigga, dont fake indifference, and stay calm with your body language.
being “non chalant” can take you very far or drag you further down in the pit you dig. no one likes an ecstatic/clingy worrisome nigga and if you are that type of person you need to fix it asap
changing my mental state has done wonders for me in every category
TLDR:
being non chalant is good for your mental health if its real not forced. it means youre calm not overthinking and not relying on validation. it becomes bad when you start bottling emotions avoiding shit and not caring about anything. the goal is to care but not let everything control you. you dont fake it you build it by changing how you think and react
