Why can ONLY trans people receive free hormones from NHS (UK)

Been thinking about this for a while, no hate or discrimination against trans individuals, as someone who experiences extreme body insecurity and dismorphia i can actually relate in a similar way jfl. But trans people in the United Kingdom can receive free hormones for gender reassignment that is exclusively for them. Think about it like this, their long term goal as trans individuals is to fix insecurities and cure their depression caused by the way they look / how they perceive themselves. All of us on here can relate with that at least this and would also likely benefit from free government provided test etc. They even get constant monitoring through their hormone /drug process (also would be helpful).

Why cant all people suffering with self image receive free hormones / drugs as apart of the journey to aiding mental health. It doesn't make any sense that a section of society is receiving treatment and care that others cant have access to..

Yeah sure the NHS is incredibly underfunded but the whole country is falling apart, and transgenders can technically receive free prescriptions (yeah sure maybe not common but that ability is still there). If the government genuinely wanted to priorities mental health they should be looking at the straight male demographic, largest suicide rates as we all are aware. And you of all people would also know that the knock on effect of being taller than 5'6 is way more immense than just 'getting pussy' haha.

sure i agree, feeling insecure about your gender identity or your body are both a form of doubt in oneself which will inevitably cause depression or mental health complications. and again the core problem is mental health.

But I don't think lack of access to hormonal therapy or GH therapy is what is causing male suicide rates to skyrocket. Our high suicide rates aren't just from the dating scene but also a lot of factors. Men didn't commit as much suicide back then because the modern lifestyle is what's causing everyone to be mentally ill and depressed, so that's what's causing all the suffering worldwide. Our culture is evolving way faster than our biology can.

I don't disagree at all, their is a whole spectrum of reasons to the causes of male suicides, its a nuanced area, but it would still be great if there was state available hormonal therapy, sure i know that sounds utopian but still. It would be nice if we could maybe get these steroids and compounds from a national health service and one where your progressed could be monitored. A place where men can legally taking enhancing steroids for example and receive additional help. Of course not every mans insecurities or mental health comes from being underdeveloped and lacking sexual dimorphism but who knows.
