As long as you have tissue/water and soap to clean yourself, it doesn't matter whether you relieve yourself in a toilet or in the open.
Mankind for most part of it's history would go to far off places and respond to the call of nature.
It only causes problems if people poo in places with significant population percentage. Defecating in a place far away from population is natural. The ground will absorb the poo and use it as a fertilizer.
