Why did marathon runners become so fucking good recently?

There's been an explosion of records being broken left and right. 4 records broken in less than 5 years

1000233979

Women's marathon running that hit a wall and was plateauing for so long also broken to set new records

1000234116

And history was made in London a few months back with 2 men breaking the impossible under 2 hour marathon mark that was thought to be impossible

1000234113
1000234115

A sub 2 hour marathon is extremely impressive. If you arent into distance running. This is legit superhuman shiet. This would be the equivalent of someone underweight casually deadlifting 400 kilos. Previously thought to be physiologically impossible

With these many records being broken left and right. Sports scientists are trying to understand why so many records so suddenly

Some blame super shoes with carbon plates like Nike vapor fly and adizero

1000234156
1000234154

Other blame extreme carbohydrate drinks that deliver huge amount of quick carbs for energy without irritating the stomach so runners can push themselves to the limits

1000234160

Others say it's because of better training techniques, running watches that help runners correct their form, move with absolute efficiency. There are different theories but the next decade of long distance running looks exciting for sure

They get teated
They use compounds which has extremely low half life inside the body and low dose.
Alor of them can easily pass a drug test

theirs alot of PEDS u can do which is not detected
also which can be taken orally or mixed into your drink that give a very hard drive to the point where u can't imagine
in like 20-30 minutes

still not every person who trains and runs and takes PEDS is gonna get to these levels,
this is genetic superhuman type stuff maybe gene editing at play who knows but I used to do track and these ppl are genuinely 1 in a 100000000

It's probably the fact that the training and dieting you can receive today already puts you ahead of almost everyone 20 years ago, and if we also account for natural talent and genetics someone is bound to break the record eventually, multiple times even

I thought it was the shoes right? Some Nike shoes r so good theyโ€™re literally banned. Steroids have been around for ages, and idk if marathon runners make enough to afford the latest designer steroids. Plus how would energy drinks have gotten that much better. Wouldnโ€™t the rate at which u can replenish energy thru energy gels or drinks already be pretty maxed out.

As far as I know shoes r the only things that have gotten a lot better recently

Even I used to do long distance running and these numbers don't even sound remotely believable to me. Im not even remotely close to them brutal shiet

Why laughing @Lundgren
