Why do boxers have thick neck always

I noticed that
I started boxxing too

It could be something similar to the swimmer effect where the sport favors people with wide shoulders and then people start thinking swimming will give them wide shoulders. For boxing, I believe it's that but there is probably some training done that helps builds it up as well.

perhaps, im not sure. it seems like most boxers already had decently robust builds with rather thick necks even before training, but even then, i don't think most avg people with neck training alone could get something close to what they have
