Why do guys IRL lie about iq. I have an average IQ and bottom 10th percentile processing speed and do well in all aspects of life.

Tons of guys at my highschool would claim to have gifted to genius IQ's and I don't know why they think that would make people respect them more. If you have a gifted IQ and don't do anything with it then nobody is gonna view you as intelligent.

Most of these kids made bad points in discussions, were not funny, were bad at reasoning, and were conformists who liked to pass off good ideas that were not theirs as their own. I have an average IQ, and when I would mention it kids would be like "really?" as if it means I am going to live a challenging life. I do well in social scenarios, I do well in college, I am usually at the head of discussions, and I am funny depending on your definition of funny. Yet I own the fact that my IQ is within the average range.

People act as if you can't learn skills. My writing in school is top-notch at the uni-level now, even though my grammar is still weak and I place no emphasis on vocabulary since vocab is bull shit. I scored the highest out of my entire honors English class on every essay but one my freshman year of college. I used to be a terrible writer, but now I read other kids writing, the same kids who claim to be gifted, and I cringe at how simple and incoherent the ideas are.

I had to get my IQ tested triannually throughout my youth, so I know my actual verified IQ. My processing speed is in the bottom 10th percentile (78). I do well in school while only being slightly above average in all other aspects. I also scored 99th percentile on the SAT. I gave a very honest effort on all my IQ tests and was always shocked at how poorly I tested.

My cunt school psychologist told me that if I didn't use accommodations in college she couldn't see me making it through freshman year. "You are very similar to other students I have evaluated, and most of them did not succeed in college, and those who did relied on extra help". Same bitch who started off with "Your IQ won't determine your ability to succeed" immediately contradicting her opinion because she has complete faith in the modern IQ test.

I would post the summary of my results if I took them with me to college and the sentences didn't all start with "(my name) tested xy on the xy subset of the xy test for the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Quotient test. This suggests (my name) is within the average range for children his age for xy".

IQ = Top performance in grade school -> top Uni -> top field like investment banking, medicine, law, or private equity -> nearly guaranteed wealth -> success and women.
Simple as that. Low IQ people don’t have such an easy path.

My IQ is barely above average. So? What's the problem?

if you say you have a high iq it makes you "better" than everyone else without having to actually achieve anything

This. I have an IQ of 128 and consider it to be a worthless attribute.

It just puts high pressure and expectations on you of people, thinking you're going to be the next Einstein or some shit lmao. Which is a horrible life quality path to take, academic excellence.

Intelligence and wisdom aren't the same thing. And the latter is more valuable.

Why did you have to get tested so often as a kid?

I don’t see what’s so cope about this? Every high IQ person I knew went to a prestigious college and is raking in the dough, living a good life, while people like us mope on here.
Most high iq people don't end up in prestigious colleges, only a very small percentage of them make it to that elite level. There are multiple aspects required to be economically successful and iq is just a small component.

for succeeding in life you just should have an IQ between 100 and 120 plus self discipline. Just that.

Yes...so do I.

It's well-known that processing speed is often lower in people with ADHD/Autism.

Abstract

Background: Patients with co-occurring Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and ASD might benefit from stimulants. There is a progressive increase in prescribing ADHD aimed medications for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), despite scarce knowledge and no distinct clinical guidelines for that matter.Aim: This study aims to analyze the effect of stimulant on processing speed performance and attention indices in children with ASD and ADHD.Methods: Forty children aged 6-18 years diagnosed with ASD who also met the criteria for ADHD were recruited. All children performed a computerized performance test for the assessment of cognitive attention performance three times: twice while they are drug naïve and once an hour after taking a single dose of 10 mg. methylphenidate (MPH). This performance was compared to a group of children diagnosed with 'ADHD only' without ASD.Results: A significant difference (p < 0.001) was found only in the parameter of measuring cognitive processing speed. This effect is significantly different from the response of the 'ADHD only' group. Conclusions: The reaction to MPH among ASD children is different than among ADHD children. In ASD, MPH significantly improved cognitive processing speed without changing other measured attention parameters. Improving processing speed, might improve every day functioning in children with ASD who also met the criteria for ADHD, in other means than expected. This unique response suggests new research targets for treatment with stimulants in ASD and ADHD children and its influence on cognitive parameters.

Keywords: ADHD; Autism spectrum disorder; continuous performance test; methylphenidate; processing speed.
