Why do I have a strong urge to punch someone that wears a hat like this?

I have been watching The Expanse on Prime Video and this guy is one of the main characters. I am considering stopping watching because of how upset I get when he wears this hat. I am not quite sure why it bothers me, but it seems out of place on anyone in the 21st century, let alone in the 22nd century when this show takes place. And it is extra cringe when he wears it indoors. It looked appropriate on Sinatra in 1960s, but it just looks cringe and try hard to wear such a hat outside of that era.

eta: I should mention that the show takes place in a domed city on an Asteroid where there is no rain or sun light, so there is no functional reason for anyone to ever wear a hat.
