why do i look so much better in the mirror

i don't understand. i take a picture and see a fucking subhuman, yet when i look at myself in the mirror everything looks fine and almost gives me a false illusion of looking fucking amazing. this makes no sense to me.

My lord, it is because phone cameras will never be able to replicate a human eye. Lens distortion, the aperture, color processing, lighting, everything matters. A mirror shows yourself, just flipped. All I do know is that phone photos, and especially SELFIES are fucking shit, unless you take them with angle frauding and extremely ideal lighting.

A pro tip is to go to a pitch black room, enable the rear camera flashlight and look in the mirror whilst pointing it at you. If you can look even somewhat AVERAGE in that sort of lighting situation, then rest assured your facial ratio is perfectly ok.

P.S: get a photo taken at the highest mm possible in a professional setting

camera that im using is from the iphone11.

this is honestly such a dumb question and its embarrassing to ask but does a picture capture someones "true" appearance better than a mirror does. like do i look more like the person that i see in the mirror or in the pictures
