Exactly they developed more Caucasianiod features due to the climate. We homids traded in our body hair for the ability to run faster and sweat. That’s why there’s skin color variation and bone structure variation. If you put a Nigerian man in his family in Europe for 30 thousands years with no mixing by any Europeans his descendants will look really similar to other Europeans.

the same thing is seen in the native Americans, in the north the native Americans developed hooked noses and more Caucasianiod features despite them genetically still being Asian, while the South American ones developed darker skins and wider noses which explains the Mayan heads

I was talking about the kanem bornu empire who controlled northern Nigeria all the way to Algeria having a very large fast empire for 8 centuries.

the Sahara was a big barrier but even when Berbers tried to conquer the Ghana empire( was was near the Caucasianiod Berbers) and the kanem bornu empire( who controlled parts of the Caucasianiod area which is now Algeria) it’s safe to say that sub Saharan African kingdoms were really strong
