Why do parents not just divorce if they hate each other

My parents hate eachother and whenever my mom comes home they always argue. My mom even got put in jail once for a day because of false accusations of domestic violence. Like holy shit bro just divorce, I promise u the neighbors and ME don’t want to hear u guys yelling at each other at 10 pm
