Why do people find it so hard to treat each other like equals?

People either want to mog or be mogged. They get very uncomfortable if you try to approach them like equals. If you validate them to the moon and act self-deprecating, they're cool. If you act super smug and arrogant, they're cool. But if you talk to them like you're bros, their minds explode. Maybe it's too intimate too quickly, and they freak out. But it's always been weird to me. I actually like treating people like bros in a very egalitarian way -- even if I mog them to suicide. But inevitably I have to go back to treating them like dirt in order for them to be comfortable. Weird normie behavior.
