Why do people hate horror movies so much?

I had multiple times when I was with girls and me wanting to put on a horror film completely killed their vibe
Michael jordan laughing

I saw you mentioned Martyrs.. that one didn't do it for me but I probably am too jaded. But maybe not since Japanese horror movies to creep the hell out of me. Not so much as it used to but they're still very good.
Has to be the original, the beginning and ending of that film is *chef's kiss.

Been out of the loop with films and that area. Not Japanese and horror that I tried was I Saw The Devil by the Oldboy director which is in its own respect more unsettling than most horror despite not being one but using similar credential.
I haven’t yet. Lately I’ve been actively watching horror movies that have non-American and folk elements

Stuff like

Midsommar (Swedish)
LaLorona (Mexican)
Post Mortem (Hungarian)
His House (Sudanese)
Noroi (Japanese)
etc.

+ my plan for 2023 is to delve into the Japanese horror rabbithole, so far I’ve only stratched it’s surface but I’ve heard there’s a lot in there
Last thing I saw in a similar tone was Neil Marshall's The Descent. He also made Dog Soldiers but the former was a curiosity to try as its aged now.
Oh yh the girl scene on bed
Tbh it was very shocking but the lack of economic resources and good actors really noticed lamo
Have u found Genki Genki Trilogy yet?
I can also recommend Nicromantik, El Infierno Verde, Trauma and Registros Fatais 3
Interesting how all your recs have been all over the place in terms of consistency of being more or less underground, extreme/ disturbing etc.

Smile mogs everything I ever seen before

Same brocel, horror is my favorite genre and only one my adhd can have attention to. But i also have attention on absurdist movies like American Psycho. I can't watch stuff thats too grounded like superhero movies. Although can't lie i liked spiderman movies cause he was my favorite super hero as a kid.

Also watch this Spanish horror movie called REC, it's the movie that gave me the most adrenaline, best found footage movie out there

you may think its a conspiracy but its simly truth that (((we))) vill take profit out of your every affliction untill you are sqeezed like a lemon and thrown into the trash bin when there is no longer profit nor utility yield out of you

Also there is funny coincidence that horror genre bloomed just after cultural revolution of 60s happened. Accident I dont think so oy vey

Contemporary readers may look no further than the horror 'boom' of the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. It was an era dominated by brand-name authors, with epic sales and matching page-lengths.

I love it and my ex hated it. She said they gave her nightmares. She thought I was a weird person wanting to fill my head with such horrible stuff and generally got mad when I talked about how I like horror

And a lot of women I have met also don’t like horror or roll their eyes when I say I want to watch a horror or just simply a mind fuck type movie
Whenever I share my interest toward horror to girls, they very often respond with stuff like “why would I want to watch horror movies, I have enough hardship in my life, I don’t need more fear”

Then I’ve met women who claim they like horror and yet when it comes to actually watching with me they don’t seem interested or want to watch the ones I want. I will watch even very lesser known ones or especially found footage type. I like those
I’ve only met a few who said they were into horror, but it turned out just how you described. Had a girl who claimed she loves horror but in reality she only cared about vampire movies/series (with chad vampires in them) and Crimson Peak, which isn’t even a horror movie. Its a gothic romantic novel

There’s only one girl I ever met as into horror as me and I think she was my soulmate we got along so well. I shouldn’t have broken up with her
Honestly I’ve only really loved and bonded with one girl in my life, who I considered my soulmate, back in highschool

I would happily be with her if I could but things turned out differently. We had to move to different cities and our lives went into other directions, unfortunate

No, I haven't seen X. I've never heard of it before. What's it about? And yes, Terrifier is low budget but the graphic/special/gore effects more make up for that. I watched like 20 mins of Terrifier 2 and that definitely has a higher budget. I only watched Terrifier because I know there's a part 2 that's of higher quality, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with it, JFL.

It’s a slasher film about a porn crew going to film in some rented property on a farm, then the slashing begins. Kid cudi plays the porn star and the director is Jewish so you know how it goes…

Despite that it’s a pretty good slasher flick, it has a prequel called pearl which is also very good, maybe even better than X.

French horror is where it's at.
Could you recommend some French horror movies?

I’ve recently watched As Above So Below, and I’ve quite liked it. It’s set in the catacombs of Paris and follows a young group of people experiencing all kinds of weird shit

Yeah I was surprised haha, I know about Sudan as a nation. And that sounds like an interesting premise though I have watched movies with a similar premise before haha.
If you’d like to watch an actual African horror, I could recommend Saloum, which takes place in Senegal. I really enjoyed it and would love to see more stuff like this. Africa is very abundant in creepy folk myths which are mostly unknown in the West

Have you ever been to the catacombs? Mogs the entire forum with their hollow cheeks and strong jaws and tanned Stacy visitors.

Haven't seen that and I doubt it's even French.

Martyrs is the staple.

If you want older, as in Noire old. Les Diaboliques and Eyes Without A Face.

Other side, can't go wrong with anything Gaspar Noé. Climax is his best.

So let me preface that I absolutely love horror, it’s probably my favourite genre after crime thrillers. I especially like paranormal, but enjoy watching other subgenres too

But as for other people… they almost always seem to hate it? Like out of 10 people I mention my affinity toward horror 8 are repulsed, 1 is neutral and 1 likes it

I had multiple times when I was with girls and me wanting to put on a horror film completely killed their vibe

At this point I kinda get a dopamine rush whenever I manage to find someone who enjoys watching them like me
blandest type of movies imo but ymmv

Bbcpilled again. Do I at least get to see some action? Otherwise I can just go straight to BLACKED.com

Might watch Pearl first before I watch X since it’s a prequel?

Also, I watched Terrifier 2 last night. Definitely would recommend. They are going for an 1980s vibes kind of movie, with the quality as well as soundtrack which is synthwave; a 2010s music genre meant to imitate 1980s music. There’s a scene known as the “bedroom scene” and I thought it was well done, over the top though but still well done nonetheless.

Saloum sounds good, I’d say it might be even relatable due to Senegal being an Islamic country, so it won’t feel too foreign for me. Not that it being too foreign is something bad or something I avoid either.

Btw I watched Terrifier 2, probably the best movie featuring Art the Clown.

What are your favorite ones?

Horrors are a bit hit or miss, they're either insane or utter shit

I watched smile recently which was good

i like movies like fight club or blade runner more, even then manga mogs it cos an overwhelming amount of manga is as good as those movies but as long as tv show most of them are underground af, some are mainstream and kino like berserk, but the rest like bokutochi ga yarimashita, dragon head, himizu, shinjuku swan , over bleed, innocent mog so hard

Its impossible to not like American Psycho as a guy tbh, the whole movie is supposed to portray what all of us have inside ourselves but we don’t show to the outer world

Superhero movies were always meant for weak men who need to feel powerful by identifying themselves with some dude with super powers

I’ve recently watched it, definitely up there. One of the best found footage style film for sure

Gonjiam asylum is another great found footage movie, its Korean

because horror genre is tedious and oversaturated and are the hardest to suspend disbelief. most horror filmakers just use jump scares and blood as a shortcut for creating actual tension, atmosphere, unease, etc.

modern filmakers can never replicate this because they are lazy, they will just use cgi:

I don't enjoy watching people die lmao
youre a freak if you watch gore vids tbh

Alright I’ll check it out. I usually watch horror movies at night but since slashers in general don’t have the power to creep me out, I can watch it during the day. For tonight I have some Asian movie laying around. Let me know what you think of Terrifier 2.
