Why do ppl buy stocks?

Let’s say ppl would buy stocks but never sell them and the stock won’t pay dividends. What are stocks then useful for?

Whats the origin of a stock?

From what I have heard it’s that with stocks you own a part of the company yet you don’t receive a financial benefit (if dividends aren’t paid).

In that case why did stocks even exist when there weren’t financial benefits?

I want to understand the origin of stocks. Nowadays they are only used to buy and sell, but at one point they were created.

They were created so that ppl could be a part of the company but why would any1 do that?

Make money and protect against inflation. the first stock exchange was in amsterdam 1611. very simple back then. Being part or having a part of a company, then selling it off makes you money.

Stocks were first created cuz the owners were too broke to do the stuff they wanted to do. Stock owners then had votes and could decide desiscions regarding the company and besides that get dividends

Yeah,
Its not only beneficial to the trader but also to the company. The company can take that money that you invest and make more products and help their business while giving you the profits back.
