I can only think they do this when he is another race to the parent abusing them or that the child was an accident and the parents didn't want children.
Even if the child is ugly I still don't see how the parents wouldn't want the best for them. Especially if they're an only child. Unless the child is a dead end of a person who has the curse of being low iq as well as ugly I don't see what physically abusing them would achieve.
I think what it perhaps comes down to is a looks threshold. If the parent is a 6/10, if their child were to be 3/10 or below they disregard them and feel hatred for them. If the parent is an 8/10 chad, anything 5/10 or below they would disregard and feel a sense hatred towards.
Genuinely, no matter what gender or level of looks or IQ my offspring were to have, I would always want the best for them and doing everything in my power to get them to reach their full potential and happiness.
Race is debatable however. Unconsciously I don't think my brain would be wired to have a connection to them and be able to relate to them. Conciously, I wouldn't be able to relate to them for the retarded 'music' and 'culture' they would grow up to be consuming and adopting. But I'd still want the best for them I guess, but I just wouldn't try as hard with them to get them to reach their goals. But what I definitely wouldn't do is physically abuse them under any circumstances.
