Stimulants increase blood pressure, which increases blood flow to brain, which increase amount of oxygen going to brain, which clears brain fog/helps u focus.
Antidepressants numb u to stop u from feeling sad or artificially raise serotonin levels

WDYM antidepressants dont improve focus and cognition, they do improve. Like why do you think that? Some of SNRIs are even marketized to improve cognition and focus, Vortioxetin etc. SRIIs also improve focus because, losing ability to focus is symptom of depression. Even ritalin (ADHD med) can be prescibed as antipressant in US.
