I think its mostly just a Status thing as you mentioned which makes people choose to upvote
posts/comments from the more popular users ,almost as if they believe that by reacting to forum
celebs posts they too are popular by proxy ,we even see this behaviour all across Social Media for
example you will have friends on IG that blatantly ignore tf out of you for no apparent reason while
at the same time go like a bunch of Celebrities/Influencers posts who are indifferent to their existence
