In school, there was a racist white boy who did the classic “Ch*ng Ch*ng” gesture and mocking accent in his presentation about Asia. Then this hapa girl next to me LAUGHED at his lame ass attempt to be funny and said SARCASTICALLY “Omg, I’m Asian and I’m so offended.” Bitch, you don’t look Asian at all so of course YOU won’t be offended (btw, this hapa girl ended up dating the racist white guy LOL).
A different hapa girl in my class said to me (when looking at a picture of conventionally attractive Asian people) “Well, they all look the same”. Same girl got offended and defensive when I told her “You look kinda Asian” (Like looking Asian is a bad thing?). She was the one who asked. Based off her reaction, it was obvious she really wanted to hear “you don’t look Asian at all”.
Lastly, there’s this 1/4 Asian who is fully white passing (pale skin, blonde hair, blue eyes). She talks about her Asian side, which is eating filipino food her grandma cooks (LMFAO that’s all she knows about the culture). Told me the classic “You’re actually pretty FOR AN ASIAN GIRL” and other racist shit like “I see you with a sugar-daddy in the future” and her reasoning? “I guess it’s because you’re Asian”. Like wtf?!
No wonder some of them are excluded from all-Asian groups. If you are asian+white but still wanna say casual racist shit about us, act like or think you’re superior to us, don’t make any genuine effort to learn at least some our languages or cultural values, can’t relate to our struggles - sorry but we will view you as more of a white person.
