if you have grievances, and enough conviction to write a manifesto and kill people, why would you minimize your impact by doing only one event and then dying or going to jail?
if the buffalo ny shooter was so against blacks, why not start serial killing black people? his kill count was pathetic. he could have doubled or tripled that easily by becoming a serial killer. and if he did it right, he would never be caught.
not only that he can be far more selective about the people he kills. he could go after the black people he has the most issues with, same as with anti immigrant mass shooters, if you're on a suicide mission, why not do it as big as possible using bombs and prolonging your evasion from police so you can commit more bombings and shootings?
if you're going to be committing the most serious illegal act, why not break all the laws in an effort to sustain your attack on your perceived enemies? why not buy illegal weaponry, unregistered silencers, things that will actually aid you in escaping police notice.
these people have a serious problem with delayed gratification. imagine if the christchurch shooter planted bombs first. he could blow up a bunch of mosques, then start killing muslims discreetly, and later on go do his shooting spree with a silenced rifle. he'd have a much greater impact.
