America WISHES it were Muttmerica, that’s where the confusion comes in.

The average American is half german half any or all kinds of british and then claims that he’s a quarter cherokee or part black or something (But in reality he isn’t that at all) because he desperately wants to be special and because for a lot of groups here it’s considered bad to be fully white.

America is only muttmerica if you consider someone who’s part one kind of northwestern european and part a different kind of northwestern european to be mixed, I personally don’t.

as for why the census considers arabs white, I don’t fucking know what cowboys were doing or thinking back then bro, nobody here considers them white today though
