This is why the why standards for men are so high and birth rates are so damn low. In a nuclear family, the pressures of having children is enormous. You need to make a ridiculous amount of money and at least one parent (usually the woman) has to stay home and live a very isolated life to take care of children. This is one reason modern women are so selective and expect so much from men. The costs of raising kids in the modern world are ridiculous and there is no one to help. If a woman has a family with a man he damn well needs to be able to provide. This basically confines the group of men elligible for marriage to very motivated, capable and high performing men. The average dude simply is not good enough to cut it.

The other problem is a shift to "love" as oppose to family being the reason for marriage. Now people marry for love as oppose to practicality. This means stuff like appearance is now extremely important. Romantic love is very superficial and thus people now marry for very superficial reasons. These types of marriages are also very tenuous and stressful. If one relationship goes bad, everything suffers. Being a housewife in the modern world is also very lonely and shitty. Basically no woman wants to be stuck alone in a house raising some bad behaved kids who are bored out of their minds.

This is the real cause behind extreme female hypergamy. In asia, the financial pressures are just too much for most men and they cannot marry. In the west, the same thing has happened but the idea of romance has made looks a huge factor as well. The result is declining birth rates and very unequal and unhappy societies.

During the 50s it changed to ONE man providing for an entire household and ONE woman taking care of an entire household. Being a 50s housewife was depressing and shitty af because unlike before, women were completely alone doing this job.

Im telling folks this my grand father, worked at coca cola company factory in paris part-time, and shared a apartment with hes brother they had enough to spend and save alot, no way in hell you could do that now. You had folks working at target, home-depot and lowes part-time and in 4 years able to buy a house. Most people will not be able to own a home and will rent a apartment till the day they die. The cost of living has risen in comparison to wages.

I agree 100 percent it was corporate ploy to make women enter the workforce to keep wages low and make people work more. Years ago it was unheard of people working 40+ hours a week, most people worked 24-28 hours a week. They had more time for family and to do things, they went on trips camping etc. When women enter the workforce they not only made more money, they started to demand the men make more money to. Currently in the usa, men make on avg 17-23 percent more then women, with black men at the lowest with 17 percent. These women don't just want men making more they , want the perks of the the 1950-1970s being able to have the option to stay home or not work at all, while at the same time having the option to work and their mate make 2x the wage of a average person.
