In sociology there's something called the
social contract theory
It's that individuals surrender certain freedoms to the collective group in exchange for security, justice, and overall well being of the tribe. In brain rot terms
The whole system is basically one big unspoken deal. You become a wageslave, grind 40+ hours for corpo overlords, pay taxes, scroll dopamine hits, and in return society gives you Netflix, cheap Uber Eats, ownership of a piece of land of you grind enough and the illusion you're free.
The sheeps keep the world running consuming, breeding the next batch of workers while the top 0.1% enjoys. This wasn't some grand conspiracy it's just how humans scaled tribes into civilizations. It is this obligations to strangers and institutions that were the load bearing beams. This is how the humans lived and have accepted as a way of life. Equality in inequality
But now the world is different now. We have the internet, the hyper-atomization of modern life have broken the incentive structure. For the first time in history, the social part of the contract is being viewed as optional. People are opting out of the traditional script. The number of NEETs on the forum and their world view already tells you enough it's not because theyโre lazy i think. It's because for many people in their positions. The ROI on participating is not worth it.
If enough wageslaves wake up and stop sheeping, the whole simulation glitches. You lose the endless dopamine, the infrastructure, and the safety net.
So most of us stay plugged in, venting our existential dread through doomposting. No one wants to be the NPC forever but dropping out isn't an option. If there are no sheep, there can be no lion
