Most overrated dog split I’ve ever seen on the internet especially for aesthetics

Firstly, most people’s goals are to look jacked, masculine, aesthetic and healthy, right? This relies on your upper body muscles. Mostly your shoulders, back and arms.

So why the fuck would 50% of your training days be devoted to your legs which contribute barely anything to your main goal?

But in reality it’s MORE than 50%. Imagine trying to jam in chest, back, shoulders, arms and all the other smaller muscles like abs, neck, traps, forearms into an upper day. Meanwhile, lower day you get to focus on basically just two or three things (quads, hamstrings, calves)

Not to mention how hitting arms at the end of upper means you’ll barely be hitting them with intensity or intent

If you wanna do upper lower…just turn it into torso limbs. Move all arm movements to lower days and do them first, then hit legs. This turns it into a very good split IMO. You hit arms 4x a week, (2x through compounds, 2x through isolations) and arms can never be too big. Trust me, they’re the best muscle group. And because you only have torso days, you get to lock in and hit it fully.

Legs really aren’t that needed but you still hit it 2x a week so don’t give me that bullshit chicken legs excuse LMAO.

TLDR:

U/L sucks, use Torso/Limbs

Bruh i was turbo twink and my friend that got me into the gym had us on U/L.

Worst shit ever it'd be so draining, boring, and i started dreading even going to the gym

IDK if its the correct term but the same CNS fatigue I'd feel from stimulants I was getting from the gym, so the rest of my day, and EVEN the next was just ruined

Definitely. The human body isn’t meant to squat and deadlift huge amounts of stuff. I mean it can, but not regularly and it’ll make you tired.

I firmly believe upper body work is meant to be lower volume and explosive and lower body stuff high rep. Obviously you can do it other ways but this seems more normal.

I was doing upper lower.

Boring as fuck. Goin back to ppl

completely shit post, hits same muscle groups in a week twice and you get addition for one like shoulders for example.

DNR if niggas say its cope, had my bench press raise from 70kg to 120kg in 2 MONTHS.

Calves are the most important leg muscles for aesthetics but do a little quads and hamstrings IMO

I never used to train my lower body at the gym, and I used to feel the same way as you. However, several things have recently made me change this mindset and start training my lower body at least once a week. For example, when wearing tailored formal pants, my legs looked weak and skinny. Also, while playing soccer, having small calves compared to a muscular upper body became noticeable.

yes but that’s cause you never trained it. If you hard once or twice a week max you can have huge legs
