Whether you follow Hitler or Mussolini, the basis itself of fascism is based on being progressive and revolutionary. Fascist thinkers all agreed on this concept which is that fascism is for the future and against reactionary thought.
This makes fascism somewhat progressive, and arguably more progressive than capitalism as well. Even though I am not a fascist I prefer it to liberal capitalism. Moreover, a great deal of our problems in the west would be solved through fascism (however socialism is closer to the final solution).
I really don’t see why most fascists don’t become socialists instead. Every goal eg: expansion, state control over the economy, elimination of religion, elimination of trouble causing ethnic groups, etc. Have all been completed under socialist governments whereas fascist ones only did these things halfway.
The Soviet Union exceeded national socialist Germany and other fascist states in terms of expansion of influence and ideology. Moreover, the cause itself was more just as instead of expanding to partially fuel the bourgeoisie (which is what national socialist Germany did) the Soviet Union expanded to spread the revolution and liberate more workers from oppression. Workers of the GDR, Polish people’s republic, etc have arguably better conditions than modern day versions of those states.
I honestly don’t understand how some fascists outright detest socialism, and they view it as a plague when in reality it is simply the next step from their own ideology. Maybe most of these self proclaimed fascists simply don’t understand fascism.
