Why "You're Lucky to Exist" is Bullshit

Trace back the causal chain of anything and the probability becomes "infinitesimal." Every single event is the endpoint of an unimaginably complex process.

This is the only bit of what you said I agree with,at least as far as is concerned our mundane human affairs.Though if
we were to discuss things from a Macrocosmic pov then in all honesty I cannot comprehend our Solar System for
example being a happenstance Phenomena and is instead I believe Governed by Supra Intelligent Being/s with Wisdom
we as mortals could not possibly comprehend like for example an infant trying to fathom Quantum Mechanics.

Not even sure if what im saying makes sense lmao just basically trying to say that our mundane Human affairs are
indeed as you say mostly happenstance which is due to us having FreeWill/Thought as finite beings with limited
intelligence but as you go up in the scale of Life throughout the Universe then Phenomena begins to fall under heavier
Law/s and becomes more predictable so to speak especially if you are extremely good at Mathematics

Your whole worldview is based on basic-nihilism then, even though I kinda agree with you: existence itself is nothing special.

But the fact that out of all those absurdly huge probabilities your "number" got pulled still makes your existence something special to you.
And that’s exactly why you should base your sense of self-awareness of your own existence on how insanely lucky you actually are. You ended up in a spot literally anyone else could’ve been in.

Everything else exists within you, as your own existence is the key entrance to enter the existential realm in the first place, where gandy already awaits you to mog your whole bloodline for all eternity.

Agreed tbh.

Mind reading my previous comment and see if what Im saying makes sense

So, I saw this map today. Odds of being born in each continent. Some Redditors in the comment section wanted to make some Chinese guy calling himself an NPC feel better, so of course:

To illustrate: You're driving and see a car with plate 42-NJ-PK. You think, "My God! What are the odds of seeing THIS EXACT PLATE at THIS EXACT MOMENT? It's a MIRACLE!"

...

See how fucking stupid that sounds? Some plate had to be there. The fact that it was 42-NJ-PK instead of 92-TL-QR means nothing. You're marveling at an outcome after it happened.

This is what people do with existence. They calculate the odds of this specific sperm meeting this specific egg and call it a miracle. But there was no "you" waiting in line hoping to get born. If a different sperm won, you wouldn't exist to care. And whoever did exist would be having this same stupid thought.

Everything is "Impossible"

Sure, the odds of you existing are astronomically small. So what? The odds are just as small for:
  • Your specific coffee stain on your desk
  • That particular cloud formation you saw yesterday
  • The exact sequence of words in the last text message you sent
Trace back the causal chain of anything and the probability becomes "infinitesimal." Every single event is the endpoint of an unimaginably complex process.

So either everything is a miracle, or nothing is. Pick one.

RANT OVER.
Some are lucky to exist

Redditors are insentient soylent NPC’s, just because you were the fastest sperm in the race from daddy’s balls doesn’t mean life is automatically good. I can understand that Chinese nigga, many billions of Chinese have lived throughout history, so he isn’t anything special.

The sperms that didn’t make it won’t even give a fuck that they didn’t make it because they have no way to process that fact.

That's not how probability works JFL. Winning the lottery isn't 50/50 just because you either win or you don't.

The odds on an absolute level are infinitesimally small, but that applies to literally everything surrounding us. The specific arrangement of trash in a dumpster also had to go a very particular way to end up exactly like that.

It’s factually true, but inspirationally bankrupt. It doesn't mean anything.

People use this same low-IQ argument to say the universe is special and God designed it ("If the physical constants were just... a little off!"). Yeah, and if they were off, we wouldn't be here to observe it. Survivorship bias.
based. the fine tuning argument and the universal constants argument shit always felt off to me but i couldnt ever put it into words ( or thoughts) but this perfectly says it tbh. The same way people cope saying " oh muh the origin of life is so rare and the probability is so low so it must be god", well if a different set of molecules came together in a slightly different environment and lead to the formation of a slightly different self replicating unit, which lets say maybe evolved to be a idk Nitrogen-based lifeform:lul:or someshit instead of carbon based and "humans" looked vastly different, theyd still be coping with " omg muh look at these weird fucking tentacles that god gave us that helps us walk and do things you should all be so grateful muh" "muh what a coincidence we were all born this exact way with 5 tentacles which helps us survive imagine if we looked or were born different muh god is great'.

You're calling my worldview nihilism, but that's not what I'm saying at all.

I'm not claiming existence is meaningless. I'm saying the meaning isn't inherent to the fact that you exist. You're not special because your specific lottery number got called; there was no lottery. No version of "you" was sitting around hoping to get picked.

The meaning comes from what you do with existence, not from the backwards probability calculation of how you got here. You can find your life deeply meaningful without pretending the causal chain that produced you was some cosmic miracle.

You're conflating "your existence wasn't a predetermined miracle" with "therefore nothing matters." Those aren't the same thing. I can acknowledge that shit just happened because other shit happened first, while still caring deeply about what I do now that I'm here.

The nihilism would be sitting around marveling at how "lucky" you are instead of actually doing something with the time you have. Treating existence as this gift from the universe instead of just... the starting conditions you work with.

This is exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about in the thread.

You're taking a simple observation ("causality exists and everything is deterministic") and dressing it up with "Macrocosmic POV," "Supra Intelligent Being/s with Wisdom," "Quantum Mechanics," "scale of Life throughout the Universe."

What are you actually saying? That at larger scales, things become more predictable? Yeah, that's just... how statistics and determinism work. You don't need to invoke cosmic intelligence or compare mortals to infants to make that point.

This is the disease. Taking straightforward concepts and wrapping them in mystical language so it sounds profound. "Our Solar System being a happenstance Phenomena" governed by beings we can't comprehend; based on what? You're just pattern matching mysteries onto gaps in understanding.

Maybe there's some grand cosmic intelligence. Maybe not. I don't know! That's the beauty, I don't know, you don't know, we're all fools. Don't be too quick to 'fill' the gaps. Learn to live with the uncertainty.

But either way, it has nothing to do with my original point: calculating the retrospective odds of your own existence and calling it a miracle is meaningless.

You're doing exactly what I criticized; manufacturing depth where there isn't any. Again, nothing personal, but this is textbook pseudo-profundity.

Just to clarify since some people are reading this as nihilistic:

I'm not saying your life is pointless or meaningless. I'm saying meaning isn't inherent to the fact that you exist. But that doesn't mean you can't create it for yourself.

We create fictional meaning all the time. Money is inherently valueless, but because enough of us believe in it, we use it for everything; buying, selling, traveling, building, raising families. None of that is "real" in some cosmic sense, but it's real enough to structure our entire lives around.

It's a cold universe out there. No grand plan, no predetermined purpose. But that doesn't mean you can't will your reality into being. You're not discovering meaning, you're creating it through what you choose to do and care about.

If that sounds Nietzschean, good. Exercise your will to power. Make something of the time you've got instead of sitting around marveling at how "lucky" you are to be here in the first place.

Grok told me that the chance of me being born the way I was (height, location, ethnicity, eye color) is only 0.005% of the entire population of the planet

My signature also shows very well what it literally means to be born as a random ant compared to a unicorn in terms of probabilities..

Also, what are the chances of having these POVs from the videos below every day / night, vs having the POVs from the pictures below..

Crazy how less people live in Russia than the US yet it's landmass is nearly 2x as large. That must mean we need to import more 3rd worlders.
99% of the land in USA is fertile and habitable while 99% of the land in Russia is frozen and uninhabitable.
