will elastics braces cause recession?

i had bite blocks to help my overjet now i have elastics, my ortho says it will make my back teeth be able to bite down but im wondering if there is any consequences like if it reseeds my maxilla?

Opposite i had them from 14 to 16 im still not food looking but before then i literslly didnt have a jaw
