In my early years I landed a couple of internships at a bank and excitedly joined their tech department as a young tech enthusiast and that was the worst mistake I made. The experience was miserable everything moved at a snail pace due to heavy bureaucracy, layers upon layers of approvals for every little thing and on top of that all that outdated legacy software and systems that I had to learn from scratch. Like the who tf learns COBOL in this era. Innovation was also nonexistent and brutal office politics everywhere and managers with MBA degrees giving deadlines even though they don't have a clue what we are doing. Also strict office hours with no flexibility in timing. legit hated my life there. Pay was good but ain't worth the mental stress
