Would braces recess?

Would braces recess you even if you don’t get a tooth removed? For example I have an impacted canine, but also at the same time (added a picture below) it seems like one half of my palate is smaller. Was wondering if braces would cook me? (Also I’m 14)

Also I don’t have an overbite, like maybe 2mm but I’m pretty sure that’s normal

i think in this scenario you would get palate expander.

I was thinking that’s the obvious choice but my dentist said I’m too old
