Most Dandruff is caused by a mix of Seborrheic dermatitis (an overgrowth reaction to Malassezia yeast) and/or oily scalp/ inflammation
Tretinoin doesn't target either and makes your scalp more sensitive to oil and inflammation, so it won't reduce dandruff and makes it worse

to stop dandruff, try to look for shampoos with
Ketoconazole (very effective for most dandruff)
Zinc pyrithione
Selenium sulfide
Salicylic acid (helps, but doesn’t fix the cause)
